Who We Are
Sergio is a true Mendocino having been born and raised in Mendoza, Argentina as a part of eight generations of winemakers and growers making him intimately familiar with the Mendoza wine region. He founded Finca La Malena to honor his mother and long line of hard working wine growers focusing on wines that represent the same work ethics and commitment to making the best possible wine.
Most recently, Sergio helped found Mitsu Trading in New York City as Vice President Business Development. This was the platform where he launched now well-known brands such as Las Perdices, Rosell Boher and Mairena. Finca La Malena was also created and launched at this time successfully selling within the NYC Metro market since 2012.
A wide range of steps inside and related to the wine industry prior to this led to the creation of his own family of wines dedicated to his mother. Not to mention creating his own import/wholesale company to continue the journey to bring the best of Argentina, and elsewhere, to the U.S. market.
Roles such as those with ProMendoza; the state funded private Foundation where he provided crucial marketing and commercial support to local business gaining access to international markets. Sergio was one of the trailblazers heralding Malbec and other amazing wines from Argentina to the international market during his time as Export Manager for the renowned Lagarde SA wine family. In his two and half years their he built the export market to over $2.5 million USD from virtually nothing. He also has spent time working in the retail side understanding the ins and outs of retail sales.
In addition to his years of university in Argentina, Sergio came to the U.S. and received his Bachelor’s Degree in International Affairs with a minor in Economics from Lewis & Clark College in 1994.

A wine enthusiast for years Joe hails from a twenty year career in Information Technology having worked for very large, global European based service providers such as Siemens IT Solutions and Services and, most recently, Atos IT Solutions and Services. During that time he had a wide variety of director level roles including Client/Account management, Project Portfolio Management, Operations and Process Management, and Services Portfolio Management.
Seeking an opportunity to change gears, Joe is teaming up with Sergio to bring outstanding wines with great quality for the price to the U.S. It is the experience gained in an industry full of competition and fast-paced change that he will bring to the dynamic wine industry.
Joe received his M.B.A., International Management, from the Questrom School of Business at Boston University in 2003 along with an advanced certificate in International Management from the European Foundation for Management Development. Undergraduate studies were at the University of Connecticut.
His new journey begins…
